well... it doesnt and does look like a normal landscape painting; however, watch how you seem to feel like your falling into and through a long tunnel into a void space, never quite reaching your destination.
Youd be suprised at how calm you can feel after looking at the real painting of this instead of just its scanned copy.
This took me an afternoon and night to complete, and i missed out on dinner... >.<;
I was never one for aryclic - I didn't like mediums I didn't have extreme control over (in other words, anything other than pencil)
Something I would suggest to increase the idea of dpeth in this picture - the water looks a bit flat. If you added not only some highlights (like sparkles) but also rounded out the darkened edges around the trees (near the bottom of the picture) it would give a better impression of a rounded lake, rather than a flat body of water. Keep in mind that even if the sun is setting, its light is still cast through the clouds and the water would reflect that.
Other than that, it's lovely work, but one of the clouds does look a bit forced (the left one.) I understand there isn't much you can do with paint once its down, but it will help the next time around.

Clouds arnt really my strong point, there very hard to get in a nice shape.
And i felt that while (yes, i mucked up) the sky should have reflected th emake the lake slightly reddish, i liked the way the red and blue tend to.. well fight in a way for a either calmer or fericer look to the painting.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
